Board of Directors

Bala Cumaresan, CFA

Bala founded Siharum Advisors, LLC in 2008 and currently serves as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Bala has more than 25 years of asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction experience. Prior to founding Siharum, Bala was the Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Board of Directors at Federal Street Advisors, Inc. From 1995 through 2000, Bala worked at Kobren Insight Management as an Analyst and later was promoted as the firm's Director of Research. Bala began his investment career as a Quantitative Analyst at Aeltus Investment Management, Inc.
Bala was born in Sri Lanka and received a BS in Engineering from Bharathiyar University in Coimbatore, India and an MBA from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. Bala holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, and he is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and the Boston Estate Planning Council. Bala, his wife and their daughter reside in Weston, Massachusetts.

Paul Matherwiez, CFA

Paul joined Siharum Advisors, LLC as Director of Research in 2013 and became a partner and member of the Board of Directors in 2014. Paul has more than 15 years of experience in investment and manager research, asset allocation and portfolio construction. Previously, Paul spent seven years at Silver Bridge Advisors, where he served as a Managing Director and was responsible for overseeing the firm's external manager program and for managing client portfolios and relationships. From 2001 to 2006, Paul was a Senior Research Analyst at Federal Street Advisors, Inc. where he focused on manager research. Paul spent two years at Kobren Insight Management as a research analyst before joining Federal Street.
Paul has a bachelor of arts in History from Providence College and an MBA from Babson College. Paul holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. Paul, his wife and their two children live on the South Shore.

Vaithehi Muttulingam, CPA®, CFA

Vaithehi serves on the Board of Directors of Siharum Advisors, LLC, and is the Treasurer and Secretary of the firm. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Perkins School for the Blind, a non-profit organization that provides education and support to children who are visually impaired.  Vaithehi started her career in 1994 as an auditor in the assurance and business advisory services unit at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Her responsibilities included managing client relationships and fund audits for large mutual fund complexes, preparation of internal controls reports and providing research and consulting services in connection with business re-engineering, security lending programs and regulatory pronouncements.  In 1999, Vaithehi joined Arrowstreet Capital Limited Partnership ("Arrowstreet"), a registered investment advisory firm providing services to institutional investors. At Arrowstreet, she was responsible for the oversight of the finance, compliance and reporting/operations functions. During her time at Arrowstreet, Vaithehi was an equity owner and served as the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Compliance Officer. She was also a member of the firm's Operating Committee, which is a committee of senior management members charged with the day to day governance and oversight of the firm's operations. Vaithehi also led the firm's enterprise risk management program and was instrumental in building the operational and internal controls infrastructure of the firm to support its growth to $43 Billion in assets under management at the time of her departure from the firm. She retired from her day to day executive positions at Arrowstreet in April 2013 and subsequently served on the Board of Directors.  Vaithehi holds an MBA (Finance & Accounting) and BS (Biochemistry) from the University of Oregon and is a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Boston Security Analysts Society. Vaithi, her husband Bala and their daughter live in Weston, MA.

Sangita Thakore

Sangita serves on the Board of Directors of Siharum Advisors, LLC.  She also serves on the Advisory Board of the New England chapter of the American India Foundation.  She was a co-founder of Eccretive LLC, formed in 2009, which utilizes expertise in search engine optimization to develop and invest in internet-based businesses. Sangita previously worked at Glaxo SmithKline from 1991 to 2001 in marketing and business development.  Sangita received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management Engineering from Clarkson University. Sangita and her husband, Nick, live in Wellesley, MA with their children.


Partners and Advisors

Edward R. Goldfarb

Mr. Goldfarb is a partner and an advisor to Siharum Advisors. He was a Managing Director at Numeric Investors, LLC from 1999 to 2013. Prior to joining Numeric in 1999, Ed spent four years at the Kobren Insight Group as Director of Research and Chief Strategist for Insight Management, Inc. Previously, he spent 14 years at Aeltus Investment Management, the investment management unit of Aetna Life & Casualty. In addition to being Chief Strategist, Ed was head of Aetna's Insurance Company Investment Management Group. Ed holds a BBA in finance from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Nick Thakore

Mr. Thakore is a partner of and an advisor to the firm; he has over 20 years of investment experience. Nick founded Diametric Capital and currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer.  Prior to founding Diametric, he served as Managing Director at Putnam Investments. There, he managed the Voyager Fund and also served as the Large Cap Equity team leader. Prior to Putnam, Nick was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of the Boston Office for RiverSource Investments. He started his career at Fidelity Investments in 1993 and worked there for nine years, starting as an analyst and later serving as the portfolio manager for Fidelity Trend and the Fidelity Fund. He received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his BBA from University of Michigan.
